The Department of Mathematics, established in 1981 with the inception of the B.Sc. Mathematics program, has maintained a remarkable academic track record. Under the leadership of Prof. P.P. Krishnanunni as its first Head, the department has achieved numerous accolades, producing a total of 11 university ranks, including 4 first ranks, 4 second ranks, 2 third ranks, and 1 eighth rank. In a historic moment in 2011, the department set a precedent at Calicut University with three students securing the first rank, each with a perfect score of 100%, while another student secured the second rank with an impressive 99.8%. Impressively, the department has maintained a 100% success rate over seven consecutive years. In 2013, the department further expanded its offerings by introducing the M.Sc. Mathematics program. In 2020, the department continued its tradition of excellence by securing three ranks: the First rank, Third rank, and Fifth rank in the University of Calicut. Notable features of the department include its outstanding academic records, active involvement in NCC/ NSS activities, provision of remedial teaching, and a robust feedback system for continuous improvement.
