The Department of Chemistry, established in 1976, has been a cornerstone of academic excellence at our institution. Offering both undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Chemistry, including the commencement of the M.Sc. Chemistry course in 1982, the department boasts a remarkable 46-year history of producing rank holders, achieving high percentiles, and nurturing countless firstclass and distinction students, underpinned by the expertise and dedication of its faculty. Its commitment to postgraduate development is exemplified by faculty publications in international journals and successful acquisition of UGC minor and major research projects, while serving as an affiliated research center of the University of Calicut has led to the completion of six PhD degrees, with ongoing research endeavours. The department's partnership with the Kerala Water Authority has given rise to a water analysis lab, supplementing practical applications of knowledge, and its well-equipped analysis wing supports research and student projects across various departments and colleges. Notably, DST-FIST funding in 2016, amounting to 72 lakhs over five years, has fortified the department's research infrastructure. Additionally, the department actively conducts seminars, symposia, and workshops, extending knowledge-sharing opportunities to students from our college as well as various institutes and colleges, with all faculty members holding PhD degrees and providing guidance for M.Sc. projects for students from other colleges. Financial support from KSCSTE in the SERD program further enhances the department's contributions to the field of Chemistry and research.
The department provides a better learning platform for the students who comes from various walks of life, to thrive for achieving their goals and to build foundation for innovative thinking with social commitment, that spur the growth of the college and the nation with a view to deliver quality education for all.
To impart students with scientific temper that makes them independent thinkers in shaping their future and managing through future endeavours. To awaken the young minds through constant inspiration to bring out their talents both in theory and in practical chemistry, and to make them aware of new frontier avenues in research as well as in employment.
United by a commitment to the department's visionary mission, the accomplished faculty collaboratively foster logical thinking, facilitate knowledge dissemination through impactful teaching and research, equip students with effective communication skills, and guide them towards diverse career paths, embodying a vibrant hub for scientific growth and holistic education.
We enrich the society by providing top quality scientific education to our UG Students.
We enrich the chemistry community through our brilliant Post Gradute Students.

The Chemistry department was funded by DST- FIST programme during 2016-2021. Instrument Facility Centre of Vyasa was created and was thrown open to students and researchers of this college and neighbouring institutes during 2016. The faculties of the department are recognised research guides and they took various sessions to students on principle and application of these instruments, which are in use and were given basic training in their usage. These instrument facilities can be availed by students of Degree and PG programmes during their dissertation work and also to students from outside.
